I am so excited to share that the Bloomingdale’s Orlando store selected the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research as the recipient of its Florida Charity Grant. To celebrate, I teamed up with Bloomingdale’s Orlando to co-host The Art of Fashion.
For those of you who attended The Art of Fashion in prior years, might recall the event was held at a local art gallery and featured the latest fashion trends on mannequins. Jennifer Bentson, the Marketing and Special Events Manager for Bloomingdale’s Orlando, wanted to keep elements of The Art of Fashion, but bring it to life. Literally.
On January 25, in the Bloomingdale’s Orlando store, nine beautiful individuals, bravely strutted down the runway in the latest fashion trends. The most wonderful thing about these amazing models, all of them have some connection to Parkinson’s Disease. They either have Parkinson’s, or they’re a care partner, or they’re a friend of a person living with Parkinson’s.
Also, the event featured incredible local artists being in-store, not only showing off their work, but several of the artists were creating new works of art – live. It was so cool to watch these talented individuals create.
The event wouldn’t be complete without food, spirits, and entertainment. Attendees enjoyed sipping champagne and noshing on savory treats from Earls Kitchen + Bar (Mall at Millenia) and listening to funky beats from the DJ.
Everyone had a great time. I think the attendees really enjoyed the convenience of being able to immediately “shop” the looks. As co-emcee of the event, I had the privilege of wearing one of the latest trends. As soon as the show was over, I couldn’t help but “shop” my look. At least I wore my own shoes, so the husband did not have to worry about any more shoe acquisitions. 🙂
Finally, I cannot say thank you enough for all who participated in this event. Thank you to all who attended and supported The Art of Fashion. Thank you to all of the amazing, kind-hearted people working at Bloomingdale’s Orlando and Earl’s Kitchen who helped make this event possible. A special thank you to Jennifer for supporting a cause so personal to me and for her creative vision that brought this event to life.
As a result of generous donations from attendees and the $5,000 charity grant from Bloomingdale’s Orlando, we raised $6,312 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research!
