During our recent trip to Portland for the World Parkinson’s Congress, I was given the opportunity to test drive a Mitsubishi Outlander SE S-AWC. Mind you, this was not your run-of-the-mill SUV. It was absolutely loaded with features, including premium leather seats, moonroof, navigation and a terrific sound system. As you can see from these pics, the Outland SE offers both style and function.
The navigation bailed us out on a few occasions, including on our way to the spot where we took these photos. Like any unfamiliar city, navigating Portland was challenging at times – particularly considering that Portland is notorious for its heavy traffic. Thankfully, the nav system was user friendly; so much so that we never even read the owner’s manual.
My husband and son were with me, so we made full use of the spacious interior. Our trip started in the city for the first two days, but we soon ventured outside of Portland to take in the incredible natural beauty of the surrounding areas. A trip to the Columbia River Gorge one day, and the coast the next day, gave us a chance to test out the handling, comfort and overall performance of the Outlander. I can honestly say I was impressed.
Our journey took us on plenty of winding roads through the mountains, some of which we tackled in the rain. The Outlander was surprisingly nimble for an SUV, and it did not leave us wanting for power on steep inclines. And there were a LOT of inclines.
It’s hard to imagine a better part of the country for a test drive than Oregon. We put the Outlander through the paces in situations ranging from heavy urban traffic to wet rural roads, and it passed with flying colors. Along the way, we saw some of the most amazing parts of the country through our windshield.
We were so busy taking in the view throughout our trip, that I forgot to take many photos of the interior of the Outlander to share. If you want a better look at the stylish interior, you can take a tour here. If you are in the market for a mid-sized SUV, the Outlander should definitely be on your list.
Special thanks to Mitsubishi Motors for the opportunity to take a test drive and collaborate on this post during our trip. In the interest of full disclosure, we were provided use of the vehicle at no charge. As always, all of my thoughts and opinions on the experience are entirely my own.
Thanks for reading!
