About a year ago, my son and his little friends started using the phrase “In the mystics.” I had no idea what it meant, and I’m not entirely sure they did either. Whatever the mystics are, I’m confident they don’t exist in the blazing heat of Central Florida.
During this recent photo shoot in the evening at Cannon Beach, Oregon, my husband commented “this must be the mystics.” The unique lighting of the evening haze, the incredible landscape and the sound of the crashing waves definitely had a mystical feel. I’ve been to the West coast before, but this was my first time stepping onto a Pacific coast beach. It was beautiful beyond measure.
The majestic rocks and surrounding scenery reminded me of the coastal scenes in The Goonies. I’ve always loved that movie. As I found out later, portions of the movie were actually filmed on Cannon Beach. And so were scenes from Point Break and Twilight. Pretty cool.
The weather was slightly cool, but comfortable. Perfect for wearing this military inspired vest. The Velvet by Graham & Spencer vest is from a couple of years ago, but it’s still trending. I think everyone needs a military style vest or jacket because of their versatility and ability to stand the test of time. I’ve linked to some stylish options below.
The Look: Vest/Jacket (similar, similar, similar); Tank Maxi Dress (Old Navy, similar, similar); Sunnies (Burberry c/o DITTO); Bracelet (consignment shop). A note about the dress: the dress is from Old Navy, but I’ve linked to the Old Navy maternity version, because the non-maternity version is no longer available. I think with this style dress it doesn’t matter if it’s maternity or not. Either way the fabric is wonderfully soft and comfortable.
