When I picked out this blazer from Shein, I knew exactly how I wanted to style it – cuffed jeans, tank, and loafers. Of course none of the 20+ pair of jeans I currently own were the right look, so I had to go shopping. The hubs was rolling his eyes at the thought of it. I need another pair of jeans like I need another hole in my head (considering I already have two – ha, ha). Forgive my corny joke about my two brain surgeries, but I try to find humor in every situation – call it coping.
A fortuitous sale at Rue LaLa helped me land a new pair of jeans. Now all I needed was the perfect pair of shoes. I went to several stores before stumbling upon these Michael Kors patent loafers. There were two pairs on display and both were my size. Perfect fit. The sales lady retrieved the box from the stock room and I was good to go. Or, so I thought.
About a week later, I decided to wear them to work. All was good until I was getting out of my car to go into the office. The sunlight captured my shoes just enough for me to do a double take. One shoe was plum, one shoe was black. Yep, I wore two different color shoes at the office all day. Fortunately, no one noticed. If they did, they didn’t say anything.
When I returned the shoes, the sales lady (not the same one) was mortified. She felt terrible. I tried to explain it wasn’t a big deal because the colors were so close. I just wanted a matching plum loafer for the one I already had. Fortunately, the plum mate was still available. Nonetheless, the sales lady thought the fiasco warranted a 25% discount. With a matching pair of loafers and a little extra change back in my pocket, I left the store feeling plum-tastic!
I wore this fabulous blazer when I spoke at the World Parkinson’s Congress in Portland, and I received so many compliments on it. Special thanks to Shein for sending me the blazer to share with my readers.
