I’ve been incredibly blessed to meet the most fascinating people through blogging. Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting an up-and-coming designer named Raul del Castillo at Park Avenue Fashion Week. Shortly after Fashion Week, he contacted me and offered to design a dress for me. It was honestly the kindest, most generous offer I have received since launching The Shoe Maven, especially given that we did not know each other that well at the time. Since then, Raul has graciously designed two dresses for me – both for significant events in my life. The first dress being for my vow renewal, and the second for the Art of Fashion.
Raul’s designs are unique and his work is simply flawless. He is not only a talented designer, he is a wonderful person. His dedication to his craft is unsurpassed.
Here’s a closer look at the Art of Fashion dress Raul designed for me earlier this year. The top of the dress is a toile-like print made of cotton. The georgette base is sprinkled with French ribbon lace. I hope these photos do it justice, because it is truly exquisite in person.
The Look: Shoes (BCBGeneration); dress (Raul del Castillo); clutch (old).
