It must be human nature to always want what we don’t have and once we do have it, we take it for granted. For example, when I was in my twenties, I used to live so close to the beach – less than a 10 minute walk, and I never went. It’s not that I didn’t have the time. I had plenty of time; I just took it for granted.
Years later – I won’t disclose how many 🙂 – I now live a little over an hour away and I want to go all of the time. Unfortunately, I rarely find the time. There always seems to be so much going on with work, blogging, my husband’s work, my son’s school and his after school activities. So, it’s only logical that summer is the ideal time to go – no school for my son and no work for me. Just book it and go. It’s not really that simple, or is it? A few weeks ago, I looked at the calendar and realized the summer was quickly coming to an end, and we still had not made it to the coast.
Last weekend, the last one of our summer break, we were finally able to take a much-needed beach getaway. We did not have any more time than usual, but we made the time and it was memorable. One thing notably lacking over the four days – iPhones and iPads. We all took a significant break from technology. I think we’ve become so attached to emails and social media that we feel “busy” all the time. In reality we just need to set boundaries. We control our schedule, and we can make the time.
I set aside time for a few photo shoots during our trip. Shooting at the beach was a new adventure for us. My husband enjoyed the chance to hone his budding photography skills in a different setting, and I loved the chance to select some beach appropriate looks.
Up first, a fun dress from Romwe. This little dress, and I mean little, is adorable. I love the classic black and white print.
The Look: Dress; sunnies (NYC street vendor).
In terms of size – I ordered a small, my normal size, and it was a little short for my taste. Admittedly, I’m a bit conservative when it comes to skirt and dress length. It was fine for the beach (I certainly had on more clothes than some of the young ladies present). For every day wear, I paired it with white shorts and Converse and it looked super cute.
Special thanks to Romwe for sending me this dress to share with my readers.
