The hubs and I recently had a staycation at the lovely Ritz Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes while celebrating our friends’ ten-year anniversary vow renewal. This was my first vow renewal other than my own (back in December).
To me, vow renewals are like a wedding on steroids – at least from an emotional perspective. Reaffirmation of love that has truly stood the test of time. Marriage isn’t easy for anyone, and at some point a marriage will be tested. Couples renewing their vows typically share a stronger bond from being tested in ways they never anticipated – disease, disability, loss of a loved one, financial struggles – to name a few.
From my experience, the outpouring of raw emotion at a vow renewal is overwhelming. It’s a great reminder of what true love represents. It also demonstrates the importance of having faith in God and maintaining that faith even in the most difficult times. And that my friends calls for a big celebration.
I didn’t wear this dress to the vow renewal, but I did wear it during our stay. It is lightweight, comfortable and flows with the breeze. Unfortunately, there was not much breeze. There was a lot of heat and humidity. Hopefully you cannot see the make-up melting off of my face :).
