On May 6, my husband and I hosted the Second Annual Art of Fashion to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The Art of Fashion is a unique fusion of Central Florida’s fashion and art communities. Over 200 people attended the event to see the latest styles from twenty-four local boutiques and designers and stunning artwork from twelve local artists.
The event is sort of a stationary fashion show – with the looks styled on mannequins and paired with amazing artwork throughout the venue.
One of the designers who participated in this year’s event is Raul del Castillo. Raul designed my dress for the evening. He did an amazing job capturing my style, and the detail of his craftsmanship is impeccable. If you are a regular reader, you may recall that Raul designed one of the dresses I wore for my vow renewal back in December. (I am planning a future photo shoot with a closer look at this dress.)
Attendees enjoyed wine, champagne, a live sushi chef, and a dessert bar while perusing the silent auction items.
Alex Woodhouse from the Michael J. Fox Foundation traveled down from NYC for the event and spoke to the audience about the critical research supported by the Foundation. We were thrilled to have her support at the event.
The Second Annual Art of Fashion was a great success! We raised nearly $7,000 to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation through Team Fox. 100% of the funds donated to Team Fox are used to support research programs for improved treatments for Parkinson’s disease and the quest for a cure.
The success of the Art of Fashion would not have been possible without our incredible sponsors and contributors. I would like to give special thanks to the following businesses for their generous support of the event:
Lauch That – Trendsetter Sponor
Medtronic – En Vogue Sponsor
Parkinson Association of Central Florida – En Vogue Sponsor
Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute – Chic Sponsor
Compass Research – Chic Sponsor
South Street & Co. – Event Planning Partner
Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi – Food & Beverages
Sugarbuzz Dezert Company – Cupcakes & Cookies
The Tasty Trend – Gluten Free Desserts
PalaciosAnn Photography – Event Photographer
I would also like to thank all of the fabulous boutiques, talented designers and wonderful artists who contributed this year.
We are already planning next year’s event, and there are exciting changes in store. We experienced exponential growth in the second year and learned a lot in the process. The format next year will be even more engaging and interactive. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
If you were not able to attend The Art of Fashion this year but would like to donate to Team Fox, please visit my Team Fox page. Literally every penny you donate can, and will, directly fund the research to cure this terrible disease.
Thank you for reading.
