I ordered this dress to wear to the World Ballet Competition Gala. Sometimes, it’s a crapshoot when I order items online. The clothes always look great on the model, but occasionally fit me like a gunny sack. Or, make me look shorter than I already am. I wasn’t quite sure if I could pull off the cold shoulder look without my short arms looking even shorter. Nonetheless, I decided to give this Rebecca Taylor dress a try – with much hesitation.
I was pleasantly surprised the dress ended up fitting well. I couldn’t wait to wear it to the Gala. I even had the perfect shoes to wear. In truth, I had the shoes first and then ordered a dress I thought would be a great fit with them. These adorable shoes are from my favorite Boston boutique – Max & Riley. Dress: check; Shoes: check; Tickets: check; Babysitter: check. I was good to go, or so I thought.
My excitement quickly faded the night before the event when my husband came home from work feeling ill. By the next morning, the whole family had fallen ill with a stomach virus. We rarely get sick, much less in the middle of the summer. Alas, the best laid plans, or so I thought, got the cold shoulder.
I highly recommend Max & Riley for more than just fabulous shoes; they offer the latest styles in clothing, accessories and more. If you are a regular reader, you may recall that I attended the grand opening of Max & Riley last August. I am a big fan of the mother-daughter team behind this wonderful boutique. They have great style, but more importantly, they are great people.
