When my husband surprised me on my birthday with a destination vow renewal trip to New York City for our ten-year anniversary, he gave me a wonderful binder full of venue options and other details. He had carefully researched both popular and unique event venues throughout Manhattan and organized the options in the binder based on location – Upper East Side, Brooklyn, Greenwich Village, etc. The information on each venue was complete with photos, features, event options, menu options and other details he obtained from the venues – all without me having any idea what he was cooking up ;).
When I started to study the venues, a sort of amazing thing happened. I quickly settled on exactly the same venue that was my husband’s first choice, without knowing it was his preference. It’s crazy how out of nearly twenty (20) truly amazing options, one place clearly spoke to both of us – “Little Owl the Venue.”
Little Owl The Venue is located in one of our favorite parts of the city – Greenwich Village. Like so many parts of New York City, I could spend weeks in Greenwich Village exploring the cafes, restaurants, markets, brownstone lined streets and historic places that are quintessential New York. Even from afar, I could tell that Little Owl captures the unique vibe that we love about Greenwich Village.
Little Owl The Venue is the catering showroom for Joey Campanaro – a critically acclaimed chef. Little Owl Events and Joey have been highly sought after for catering and event production in locations throughout the city for years. “The Venue” is their in-house event space where they can accommodate up to 70 guests for a wide range of events.
The Venue has an unmistakably intimate feel, with an open kitchen in full view of the dining area and a large glass front that seems to transfer the energy of the city into the space. The decor and layout allows for a more casual, family style setting for smaller events – which was a perfect fit for us. Chalkboard walls in various spots enable you to customize the space in a unique way, from ornate works by a talented local artist to more simple concepts that can be created by your guests.
The amazing Little Owl staff has hosted everything from product launch parties, corporate presentations, showers, weddings, birthday parties and more at The Venue, and their willingness to personalize the space to our vision has already made our vow renewal experience special. Our event coordinator at Little Owl, Andrea, has happily connected us with incredibly talented people to complete the event – including a photographer who has worked with a number of celebrities, a musician who plays in venues all over the world, and a chalkboard artist whose talents are simply unparalleled. The Little Owl website says they “strive to make The Venue feel like your home,” and we can definitely say that has been our feeling throughout the planning process.
Stay tuned for more details about our vow renewal. It’s only a few weeks away, and I can’t wait to share this special experience with you.
